There are just three months left until the start of this year’s PGT. It’s time to announce the full lineup.
On the last weekend of August (28 and 29) Prague will once again host the traditional gathering of the dark subculture. The 21st annual Prague Gothic Treffen has expanded to three venues this year; in addition to Fuchs2 and Bike Jesus, a third full-fledged stage, Vila Štvanice, will join them this time. This means that this year you’ll have even more space and yet more opportunities to see both established names and most interesting rising stars of the scene .
So far, we’ve introduced this list of acts you’ll be able to see live at this year’s PGT: British gothic matadors The Danse Society, the reunited legends Ghost Dance, Belgian electronic giants Vomito Negro, the Texas-based brother duo NITE, Swedish electronic veterans Cryo, Spanish post-punk hitmakers Darkways, Hungarian electronic stalwart Black Nail Cabaret, American darkwave/deathpop riders Corlyx, the explosive German deathrockers Cataphiles, Swiss new wave/post-punk sensation Lone Assembly, Argentine electronic chameleon Skelesys, French electronic act Potochkine, the European premiere of American synth master Panic Priest, the Croatian-German deathrock powerhouse Kadeadkas, German beyond-the-grave electronic act Cattac, Italian darkwave quartet Estetica Noir, hypnotic dance electronic act Oh Madonna, and the Slovak dark electro/artpop duo Majo Polyak and Radmila Svensson. And which names will round out the lineup?
Guitar-loving audiences are sure to perk up at the mention of Horror Vacui. This five-piece post-punk/deathrock band from Bologna, Italy, is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, during which time it has released four full-length albums. Intense touring has honed their live performance skills, which, combined with their fierce and raw energy, make the band a major concert draw. Furthermore, Horror Vacui will release their fifth full-length album, "Shadows Sanctuary," on August 7, and they’re sure to play tracks from it during their set. Can you imagine better timing?

We’re also thrilled to announce another name. Australian Marc Dwyer, better known in the music world by his stage name Buzz Kull, blends darkwave, EBM, and minimal synth in his work. The result is a dark and hypnotic dance sound that’s incredibly catchy, especially in a club setting. Over the course of his more than sixteen-year music career, Buzz Kull has released three full-length albums and a whole host of singles; the latest showcase of his work is this year’s mini-album “Deep Hate.” If you haven’t had the pleasure of checking out this guy from Sydney yet, it’s high time to remedy that!

If you’ve counted twenty performers so far, you’re right. But this time, we’ve decided to add one more iconic band to the lineup—a surprise for all visitors to this year’s PGT that we’ll reveal on the day of the event. So, to find out who is hiding behind the mysterious name SURPRISE GIG, check the programs you’ll receive at the entrance.
We won’t be holding back when it comes to the DJs either. Friday’s afterparty at Fuchs2 will be kicked off by DJ Isaac Howlett, the leading figure behind the British electronic powerhouse Empathy Test. He’ll be followed by one of the most experienced Czech dance floor masters, DJ Papouch. If you’re more of a fan of a traditional sound, the dance floor at Bike Jesus will be open all night for you, with the experienced DJ Cyberpagan behind the decks—the main figure behind the German portal death-rock.de.
Saturday’s afterparty at Bike Jesus will be headlined by two more highly experienced names: DJane MadLyn is coming from Germany—she’s the mastermind behind the popular Vanity Noire parties and a key figure in the cult Leipzig afterparty When We Were Young. Her partner in crime will be Vienna-based DJ Dust, a longtime resident and co-founder of the renowed Ashes to Ashes parties (1992-2021) and currently at Near Dark nights at Viper Room. Saturday’s afterparty at Fuchs2, hosted by the Sanctuary.cz DJ Crew, will, as is tradition, bear the subtitle “The most sober ones play” and will guide you through the night until the early birds start singing. You know the drill.
Let’s recap. Two days, three clubs, 21 live performances—eighteen of which are Czech premieres, and one is a European premiere. Afterparties at two clubs every night. Visitors from many countries in Europe and beyond. Do you want to be part of this biggest Central European gathering of bat enthusiasts?
