MORE BANDS AND ONE BIG SURPRISE FOR XXI. PRAGUE GOTHIC TREFFEN

There's still almost half a year to go until the next Prague Gothic Treffen, but we never sleep. Let us bring on the next batch of news!

We won't beat around the bush and will start with the biggest news right away. As much as we love the combination of Fuchs2 and Bike Jesus clubs, we also know that Bike tends to get a bit crowded, especially when big bands play there. This was obviously on our minds, and we tried to find a way to alleviate the situation. We found it. We are very happy to announce that after months of negotiations, we are expanding PGT with another stage! You will find the third stage at Vila Štvanice, about forty steps from Bike Jesus, and here too you can look forward to a full program with live bands. That means more space and more music at the same time.

Let's add three newly confirmed projects to that, giving us even more reasons to be happy. So far, we have introduced thirteen artists who will be coming to play at PGT. As a reminder, they are British gothic matadors The Danse Society, the revived legend Ghost Dance, Belgian electronic giantS Vomito Negro, Texas brother duo NITE, Spanish post-punk hitmakers Darkways, Hungarian electronic stalwarts Black Nail Cabaret, American darkwave/deathpop riders Corlyx, Swiss new wave/post-punk comet Lone Assembly, French electronic sensation Potochkine, the European premiere of American synth buster Panic Priest, Croatian-German deathrock strike force Kadeadkas, Italian darkwave quartet Estetica Noir, and Slovak dark electro/artpop duo Majo Polyak and Radmila Svensson. And who else can we look forward to?

The Swedish electronic project Cryo was founded at the turn of the millennium by Martin Rudefelt and Torny Gottberg. It didn't take long for their sophisticated sound, combining industrial noises, EBM references, and hypnotic vocals, to earn the band respect throughout the European electronic underground. All the more so because Cryo were never one of those projects that spent long months on tour, but carefully selected their shows. That's why many fans were saddened when Cryo went on hiatus some time ago and the chance to finally see them live disappeared. Fortunately, no hibernation lasts forever, and Martin Rudefelt's restlessness was stronger than the cryochamber. At the turn of the year, the project announced its return (albeit with a changed lineup), and of course we couldn't miss it. We are therefore delighted to bring Scandinavian electronic veterans Cryo to Prague for the first time.

And we'll stay with those well-deserved names. Since you wanted to add more deathrock to the lineup, we decided not to skimp and invite straight away one of the most important names in the genre. Altar De Fey was formed in the early 1980s in San Francisco as part of the emerging deathrock scene, which they helped shape and define alongside Christian Death and 45 Grave. It is said that the specific sound of the guitars, which form the backbone of the genre, is the work of Alter De Fey founding member Kent Cates. But even though the band was on track to become a cult favorite like their colleagues, they broke up in 1985 without leaving a single official album behind. Because of this, Altar De Fey was long considered a "band for true insiders." The band had to wait over a quarter of a century for a proper comeback, when an originally one-off reunion in San Francisco generated such enthusiasm that Altar De Fey returned from the grave. We are honored to present this lost legend of San Francisco deathrock live for the first time to visitors of Prague Gothic Treffen.

The third member of the party is the German project CattaC. Its sound balances somewhere between electro-industrial, darkwave, and dark pop, creating a sufficiently large genre playground for the properly sepulchral vocals of frontman and multi-instrumentalist Jens Helmis. And since the artists have been appearing at international festivals for some time now, the time is right to finally give them a space here for the first time.

CattaC - Dont Fear Tomorrow

Even though it might seem that there was so much news about Prague Gothic Treffen that it couldn't possibly fit into those two days, don't be fooled. We still have a few tricks up our sleeves that we will share with you as soon as they are confirmed. But if we were you, we wouldn't wait too long to buy tickets... (you can get them here). Stay tuned!
